Vision and Mission

HakiElimu's vision is of a Tanzania where all children enjoy their right to a quality basic education, where schools respect the dignity and human rights of all people, and where education promotes equity, creativity, critical thinking and democracy.

Our Mission

HakiElimu will work to realize equity, quality, human rights and democracy in education by facilitating communities to transform schools and influence policy making, stimulating imaginative public dialogue and organizing for change, conducting critical research, inquiry, analysis and advocacy and collaborating with partners to advance common interests and social justice.

Overall Objectives:

1. To contribute effectively towards ensuring that every child in Tanzania - without discrimination - is able to enjoy her or his right to a quality basic (primary and secondary) education.
2. To promote a culture and practice of human rights, democracy, vital citizenship, good governance, creativity, critical thinking and expression in education and society.

1. To contribute towards creating and sustaining a national movement for social and educational change by stimulating broad public engagement, information sharing, dialogue, membership development and networking throughout Tanzania.

2. To influence national policy-making and practice on education and related matters - and broaden public participation in key policy processes - through a program of research, analysis, advocacy and networking.
