Vision and Mission

HakiElimu’s vision is of a Tanzania where all children enjoy their right to a quality basic education, where schools respect the dignity and human rights of all people, and where education promotes equity, creativity, critical thinking and democracy.

Program Strategy 2008-2011

HakiElimu’s overall goal is to contribute to ensuring that every person in Tanzania – without discrimination – is able to enjoy her or his right to quality basic (primary and secondary) education. Not education of any sort, but education that promotes a culture and practice of human rights, democracy and active citizenship.

HakiElimu realizes its goals through the four program units:
Media: Spots,Billboards,Media Surveys,Program Support and Media Monitoring
Information Access: Publications,Public competitions,Information Dissemination and Feedback,Library and Website
Citizen Engagement: Friends of Education,Citizens organizing and action,Policy Monitoring and Accountability,Communicating views and lessons
Policy Analysis and Advocacy:Education research,State-citizen relations,Budget Simplification and Analysis,Op-Eds and Working Papers
